Sconser (isle Of Skye Golf Club)
There is a small 9 hole course attached to a hotel but effectively Sconser is the only public access course on the Isle of Skye.
It is in a pretty seaside setting about 10 miles south of the town of Portree with views across to the Island of Raasay. However it is on heavier farmland soil and is not a links course.
I t is worth a game for a bit of fun but there is not much variety and it is strictly in my 'holiday golf' category.
The day we played was very still and the rain got worse with each hole. With wet weather in the previous days the course was quite wet underfoot and the conditions were perfect for midgies -a problem I have been fortunate to never encounter in all my earlier visits to Scotland.
Sconser is 9 holes with alternate tees. It became so wet we only managed 9 holes before we retired to the friendly welcome at the little clubhouse.
